What: This webinar is part of the Global Webinar Series on Enabling Oil and Gas Producing Countries to Transition Towards a Low Carbon Future.

National policies and regulations play vital roles as catalysts for building a low carbon economy. Oil and gas producing countries will need to align and broad the implementation of their national climate and energy policies to reduce emissions and support low-carbon technologies and investments. Different producing countries will experience different risks and opportunities during this energy transition process, which will influence how countries align their climate, energy, and oil and gas policies. This webinar will discuss:

- How national energy, oil and gas and climate policy frameworks in oil and gas producing economies can be better aligned to support the transition to a low-carbon, climate resilient economy

- Challenges in developing, aligning and implementing policies and strategies geared towards decarbonization.

- Critical roles that National and International Oil Companies can play in supporting energy diversification, energy efficiency and a low-carbon future

- Economic planning, including the country approach to revenue collection, management and state investment in hydrocarbons and other sectors.

This webinar is organized by UNEP and Norway’s Oil for Development Programme in collaboration with Chatham House and Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI).
