The foundations for a new green alliance between the European Union (EU) and Latin America and the Caribben will be laid out at this upcoming event, within the framework of the XXII Meeting of the Forum of Ministers of Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean.
With the aim of increasing awareness of existing or planned strategies, mechanisms and resources for a green recovery in the EU and the LAC regions, the main goal of this virtual gathering is to connect the priorities of the Forum with those of the EU Green Deal, and to guide future partnerships based on the outcomes of the Forum of Ministers.
The event is an opportunity to showcase a variety of european partnering tools available to the region in a green recovery context, including: EUROCLIMA+, LAIF, EIB and EFSD+. Analysing results and lessons learned from existing EU programmes in LAC will also be part of the agenda.
It is expected that high-level suggestions from the Forum will help guide the 2021-27 EU strategic partnering priorities (on climate change, environment/biodiversity, circular economy) and the 2021 programming process.
