The Sustainable Consumption Week of Latin America and the Caribbean is a platform to create and exchange experiences on the progress, opportunities, and challenges on the advancement of sustainable consumption as part of the economic and social recovery.
The event will integrate strategic actors, civil society and young activists to address relevant aspects of sustainable consumption, such as:
- How to establish enabling conditions to promote behavior change towards sustainable consumption patterns in the region.
- The role that public policy, companies and citizens should play.
- The role of consumer information and tools such as eco-labeling.
- Sustainable lifestyles and education as drivers of change for climate action.
The Sustainable Consumption Week will also host the award ceremony of the Innovation for Sustainable Lifestyles contest, in which university students have had the opportunity to present transformative solutions to change consumer habits and lifestyles.
This event is organized by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia and the Secretariat of Consumer Defense of Paraguay, with the support of the European Commission, and the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany.
