2022 marks the 30th anniversary since the United Nations Environment Programme International Environmental Technology Center (UNEP-IETC) was established in Osaka in 1992. While UNEP has been working on tackling environmental issues with a broad approach, our center has specialized in the fields of waste and chemical.
UNEP-IETC works with a wide range of partners, including national and local governments, academia, civil society, and the private sector, to provide scientific and technical knowledge and tools to promote the circular economy and environmentally sound waste management. We also work in various inclusive ways to promote waste segregation, landfill regulation, and gender-equitable waste management systems.
Based on the 30 years of experience we have accumulated, UNEP-IETC will continue to work for the next 30 years to call for individual actions to achieve zero waste.
