Countries need to ensure that their climate action plans, known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and due in February, are ambitious, says Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Speaking in Baku, Azerbaijan, during the UN Climate Conference (COP29), she also highlighted the importance of ensuring that the New Collective Qualified Goal (NCQG) on finance is achieved so developing countries can shift away from planet-warming fossil fuels.
