This meeting is part of the activities of UNEP OzonAction’s Asia Pacific Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP). The meeting acts as a collaborative forum for 12 PICs to deliberate the coordination approach, and timeline on the implementation of the Regional HPMP Stage II which was recently approved by the 86th ExCom, with UNEP as the lead implementing agency and Australia as the cooperating agency.

The main objectives of this workshop is for all 12 Pacific Island Countries to jointly provide feedback to the draft and to finalize the project document of the regional HPMP Stage II in the presence of all National Ozone Officers of the Pacific Island Countries.
This meeting is organised by UN Environment's Compliance Assistance Programme, OzonAction in Asia and Pacific in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Protection Board, Government of Palau. It is part of the implementation of Enabling Activities project for HFC Phase-down in the Pacific Island Countries.
The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer will help protect the climate by phasing down high global warming potential hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which are commonly used as refrigerants. Promoting energy efficiency of air conditioning and refrigeration technology can significantly increase those climate co-benefits.
