The Twinning Workshop for Montreal Protocol Officers, Energy-Efficiency Policy Makers, and Financial Mechanism Focal Points will use the well-established infrastructure of the regional network meetings to further engage one national energy efficiency policymaker and one focal point for a relevant financial mechanism per country to participate and follow up on the concept of “twinning” with the Montreal Protocol Officer from the same country to further advance energy-efficiency considerations
Through the Twinning workshop, the Caribbean countries will be able to advance energy-efficiency considerations in the Montreal Protocol implementation, including further Kigali HFC Implementation Pan (KIP) strategies.
This workshop for Women in the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning sector explores initiatives to mainstream gender nationally and regionally and create an enabling environment for greater participation of women in the HCFC phase-out and HFC phase-down.
This workshop comes within the framework of Ex-Com approved project “Twinning of Ozone Officers and National Energy-Efficiency Policymakers to Support Kigali Amendment Objectives” which, based on the needs of Article 5 countries, aims to increase the climate benefits of the Montreal Protocol refrigerant transition by maximizing a simultaneous improvement in the energy efficiency of the cooling sector through enhanced policy and programmatic coordination at the national and regional levels.
The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer will help protect the climate by phasing down high global warming potential hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which are commonly used as refrigerants. Promoting energy efficiency of air conditioning and refrigeration technology can significantly increase those climate co-benefits.
