Alberto Pacheco Capella is the Director of the Sub-Regional Office for the Southern Cone of Latin America and Representative for Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
Alberto served as Special Assistant to the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) from 2019 to 2022. Between 2015 and 2019, he worked at the UNEP Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean as a focal point for Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and Coordinator of the Regional Biodiversity and Ecosystems Subprogram.
Mr. Pacheco Capella has a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Lund University in Sweden, a Bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance from the Metropolitan University of Venezuela, and additional studies from the London School of Economics, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and the Copenhagen Business School.
