The Dave Matthews Band has a long record of powerful environmental advocacy and large-scale engagement of their fan base to take action for the planet. Since 2005, the band has been working with REVERB, an organization dedicated to greening concert tours. As of 2019, the Dave Matthews Band had eliminated over 121 million pounds of CO2, raised over US$2 million for environmental and social causes, and removed almost half a million single-use plastic bottles at their shows. They’ve also diverted tonnes of compost and recycling from the waste stream, implemented backstage greening measures including a farm-to-stage programme promoting locally sourced food, and use locally produced biodiesel in tour fleet vehicles as part of their comprehensive sustainability programme.
