Building on a long-term collaboration with the Italian Government, MISEF, through innovative financing mechanisms, facilitates end-users’ investment in clean energy and digitalisation and helps bring about benefits for those on low incomes.
It has supported renewable energy and energy-efficiency systems such as SWH systems, solar PV systems, compact fluorescent lamps, as well as energy efficient building materials. MISEF implements a range of financial support mechanisms, including financing incentives, utility on-billing schemes to secure commercial loans and lower interest rates, investment advisory support, dedicated credit facilities, bank loan officer training and end-user awareness-raising campaigns.
MISEF aims to address the urgent need to ensure efficiency and resilience of power systems to enable renewable-based cost-effective clean energy transitions through the deployment of digitalisation. Pilot projects showcasing innovative business and regulatory models for the uptake of smarter digital power infrastructure were selected in India, Morocco, Brazil and Colombia. Pilot projects will feed into the International Energy Agency’s Digital Demand-Driven Electricity Networks (3DEN) Initiative. 3DEN is a four-year initiative focusing on the policy, regulatory, technology and investment context needed to accelerate progress on power system modernisation and effective utilisation of demand-side resources.
