The UNEP TEEB Landscape Restoration Project stands at the forefront of global efforts to reverse land degradation, promoting ecological sustainability, food security, and economic growth.
This initiative is driven by the urgent need for sustainable land management practices that can restore degraded landscapes, bolster biodiversity, and uplift communities. Through the principles of the economics of ecosystems and biodiversity (TEEB), the project is restoring significant tracts of land to their natural glory, tackling the dual challenges of environmental degradation and socio-economic vulnerability head-on.
Central to our mission is the collaboration across governments, NGOs, the private sector, and local communities, harnessing collective expertise and resources towards achieving land degradation neutrality. Our holistic approach intertwines environmental restoration with socio-economic benefits, aiming to generate employment, enhance livelihoods, and improve living conditions while maintaining the ecological balance.
