The TEEBAgriFood initiative is paving the way for more sustainable agriculture and food systems by economically valuing nature's contributions, often overlooked in market prices
Implemented in 14 countries so far, TEEBAgriFood has already achieved significant impacts. In Indonesia, it influenced the inclusion of agroforestry in the national development plan. India is incorporating TEEBAgriFood into the undergraduate Natural Farming syllabus across 51 state universities, highlighting its educational importance.
Furthermore, in Brazil, TEEBAgriFood's advocacy for Urban and Periurban agriculture led to a presidential decree and a $3.2 million investment in these initiatives. By giving nature a seat at the table, TEEBAgriFood links to the biodiversity policy mainstreaming aspects of the work of the CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity) and Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and helps to raise awareness on how making nature’s hidden values visible can help to transform food systems and serve national priorities and global commitments.
