The Special Programme has successfully processed seven rounds of applications since its inception in 2015. This brings the total of 83 projects approved across seven rounds of funding (35 in Africa, 18 in Asia Pacific, 19 in Central and Eastern Europe and 11 in Latin America and the Caribbean). The Special Programme is currently funding projects from 70 countries.

You can explore the funded projects through our Projects Database dashboard below. The dashboard provides an overview of the activities undertaken by each project to implement the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, the Minamata Convention and the Global Framework on Chemicals. It also categorizes the objectives of each project into thematic areas.
The dashboard is interactive and allows you to explore detailed information about the objectives of each Special Programme project.
Here are some suggestions on how to explore the projects:
- Information on the first page can be used to explore the different activities undertaken by the projects. The activities can be viewed either by category by clicking on a square in the visual on the left or by country by clicking a country name from the map or from the box on the right. More detailed information on the activities can be found by clicking on the button in the bottom right hand corner.
- Information on the second page contains an overview of the Special Programme project portfolio. The data can be filtered by clicking on the different bars in each graph or by using the filters in the top right hand corner. For more information on a specific project click on the button in the top left.
