World Environment Day 2023 is hosted by Côte d'Ivoire in partnership with the Netherlands.
The theme will focus on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution.
5 June 2023 will mark the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day after it was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. Over the past five decades, the day has grown to be one of the largest global platforms for environmental outreach. Tens of millions of people participate online and through actions on the ground.
How can you take part?
From schools and community groups to businesses, cities and governments, everyone is encouraged to host and register an event or action onto the around 5 June for World Environment Day.
Use and share the Beat Plastic Pollution Practical Guide. It gives actions we can all take to halt and reverse the damage being caused by plastic pollution.
