Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative (MRCTI) is the network of mayors leading the initiative, working closely with mayors’ offices and communities and making the connections to mobilize ‘boots on the ground’ for data collection. University of Georgia provides training to local organizations, schools and volunteers, as well as protocols and guidelines for monitoring litter through visual observations.
