Global Adaptation Network
The UN's Global Adaptation Network (GAN) is a knowledge-sharing platform for climate adaptation, connecting a multitude of adaptation organisations into a common worldwide network, and enabling the exchange of vital information. When cutting-edge solutions are developed, GAN ensures they are shared with those who need them most. The Global Adaptation Network has a unique relationship with the UNFCCC through a variety of linkages, including the Lima Adaptation Knowledge Initiative. Founded in 2010, the GAN family is a thriving knowledge-sharing community.
Regional Climate Adaptation Networks
As an umbrella organization spanning most continents, GAN is composed of various constituent regional networks, each of which provide knowledge services in their respective regions. These regional networks are:
Adaptation Gap Reports
UNEP’s flagship Adaptation Gap Report series focuses on finance, technology and knowledge gaps in climate change adaptation. It compliments the Emissions Gap Report series, and explores the implications of failing to close the emissions gap. The fifth and latest edition of the Adaptation Gap Report looks at progress in planning for, financing and implementing adaptation – with a focus on nature-based solutions.

Lima Adaptation Knowledge Initiative
Climate adaptation knowledge gaps have been identified as a barrier to scaling up adaptation actions. The Lima Adaptation Knowledge Initiative (LAKI) addresses this issue by identifying and prioritizing adaptation knowledge gaps and catalyzing collaborative action to close these gaps. LAKI is a joint action pledge under the Nairobi Work Programme (NWP) between the UN Climate Change and UNEP through the Global Adaptation Network Secretariat and its regional networks to address knowledge barriers hindering the implementation and scaling up of adaptation action.
