UNEP promotes robust analysis and assessments to provide scientific evidence of environmental, health, economic and other air pollution impacts, thus identifying cross-sectoral solutions for effective action.
Air quality monitoring and assessments relies on data availability and access, information dissemination and continuous monitoring for informed decision-making.
UNEP supports air quality monitoring, surveillance networks and quality data management. It builds on existing regional efforts to make the case for action, such as the project "Using Environmental Health Data and Tools to Advance the SDGs." Science-driven activities include sector-specific interventions, health impact assessments and fostering science-policy dialogues for the implementation and dissemination of findings.
