Climate impacts are widespread, rapid, and intensifying. The November 2021 Conference of Parties (COP 26) for the UN Climate Change Conference, hosted by the UK in partnership with Italy, in Glasgow, UK, was a chance for leaders from all countries in the world to make 2021 the necessary turning point for taking action on the climate emergency.
Through report launches, events and more, at COP26, UNEP worked towards three goals:
- To raise ambition at the national level, but more importantly to spur immediate action and get started on reducing emissions.
- To deliver on the 100 billion USD promise and stimulate the large-scale private finance needed to reach the Paris Agreement.
- To encourage solutions that can reduce GHG emissions while also adapting to climate impacts like extreme weather events.
