Meet the team

Robert is a Task Manager overseeing a portfolio of projects in Latin America with the Biodiversity and Land Degradation GEF Unit in the Ecosystems Division at UNEP.

Christopher is a Task Manager for the Caribbean portfolio of GEF-funded Biodiversity and Land Degradation projects within UNEP's Ecosystems Division.

A national of Niger Republic, Adamou is currently serving as the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Task Manager Biodiversity and Land Degradation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Edward supports the management of the GEF Chemicals and Waste Portfolio budget.

Before joining UNEP, he worked for 10 years in UN-Habitat in project and programme management, administration, finance and budget, Business Intelligence and reporting, staff training and training coordination. Edward is a national of Kenya, he has a Master in Economics Policy and Management.

Marcus Nield is an endlessly enthusiastic communication specialist for UNEP's Climate Change Mitigation Unit and the Global Adaptation Network (GAN).

As a programme management officer with UNEP Climate Change Adaptation Unit, Eva supports countries’ efforts to adapt to climate change impacts through planning and implementing ecosystem-based approaches.

Caroline Okana has worked with UNEP for over 16 years with the GEF International Waters Unit within the Ecosystems Division whose mandate is to support transboundary cooperation in shared marine and freshwater ecosystems. Under programme management, she provides support in project development activities, project implementation activities as well as administrative support to UNEP's GEF IW Operat

Cicilia is a Programme Management Assistant with the Climate Mitigation Unit, UNEP. Cicilia has been responsible for managing a diverse group of projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency and transport in several countries globally. She has also managed several project mid-evaluations on the assessment of project performance.

Patricia provides fund management support to projects within the GEF Climate Change Mitigation Unit.

She has over 16 years’ experience in grant, budget and finance management at project and organization level.

Elca supports the development, management and implementation GEF Climate Change Enabling Activities Portfolio.  She has 13 years’ work experience in Environment and Natural Resource Management.

Under the guidance of Fund Management Officer, Clare supports Fund management functions of Enabling Activities Portfolio-GEF, Climate change Mitigation Unit. She also supports in the follow-up actions related to HR activities for the unit.

Catherine serves as a Programme Management Assistant in the Climate Change and Adaptation Unit. Catherine has over 12 years’ experience in coordinating, planning and supporting budget, procurement and operational requirements. Catherine has developed, implemented, and managed financial, administrative and procurement systems and policies to support programs and organizations at large.

He provides support to the projects within Climate Change Mitigation Unit and is responsible for the Unit’s financial information system. He has over 9 years of work experience in finance, accounting, and project management. Before joining UNEP, Aaron worked with UNON for 4 years as a finance assistant.  

Tainá is working as UNEP Climate Mitigation Finance Expert (UNV) in LAC Portfolio.

She provides general financial and administrative support for LAC Portfolio. Including support to Project Implementation/ Internalization; Financial Reports; Project Evaluation/ Closure and recruitments.

Alexander supports the portfolio on terminal reviews of select Enabling Activities and in the development of emissions projects. Prior to UNEP, he worked for the Scientific Research Insitute for Atmospheric Air Protection in Saint-Petersburg and has over 15 years of experience working on air and chemical pollution assessment and mitigation.

Maurice supports the portfolio on IPMR. Prior to UNEP, he founded the NGO Children of Hope India before working for the Indian High Commission, and then as a business development manager for law firm Chabi Otieno Chiteri Advocates. Chabi is a Kenyan national and holds a BSc in Communication Engineering from the National institute of Technology, Silchar, India. 

Thomas supports the portfolio on project and programme development and implementation. He previously interned for UNEP before relocating to Nairobi to gather baseline data for active projects. Thomas is a French national and holds a degree in Environmental Science.

Ashley supports the portfolio with auditing and legal assistance. Prior to joining UNEP, she spent five years working across governance, risk management and compliance. Ashley is a Canadian national and holds certifications as a Chartered Professional Accountant and Project Management Professional. 

Pauline supports the portfolio on finance and budget assistance. Prior to joining UNEP, Pauline spent five years in the private sector. She is a Kenyan national and holds an MBA.

Victor supports the portfolio on finance. Prior to joining UNEP, he spent three years in between the private and NGO sectors. He is a Kenyan national and holds a BSc in Business & Information Technology.

Daria supports the portfolio on project and programme development and monitoring and evaluation. She previously interned for UNEP before relocating to Nairobi support the Unit's work on SAICM. Daria is a Russian national and holds a BSc Molecular Biology and Sustainability. 

Samwel is the Communication Expert for the UN Environment Programme's Global Environment Facility (GEF) International Waters.

Rocío supports the portfolio Task Management. Prior to UNEP, she worked for UNIDO on artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) and cocoa production. Rocío is a Spanish national and holds a BA in International Relations and Politics and an MA in International Business Management. 

Mariarosa supports the portfolio though her work on IMPR. She is no stranger to UNEP, having worked within the Corporate Services Division and Economy Division for several years. Mariarosa is an Italian national with degrees in Economics and International Development and Cooperation. 

Bret supports the portfolio on project development and coordination. He lectures on Environmental Health in the Master of Public Health track at New York University, previously consulting for UNEP, as well as WHO and several NGO’s including Pure Earth. Bret is an American national and holds degrees in Environmental Sciences and Development Studies.
